Most people aren’t informed about security issues. It may be because of misinformation, or simply a lack of acceptance over disquieting facts that they don’t want to know. These facts – like the common use of bump keys and car door wedges to access people’s homes and vehicles – have a slight amount of attention paid to them, but not nearly anything resembling widespread knowledge. Many people simply don’t realize how easy it is to wedge a vehicle’s door open.
Assumptions
Most people simply assume that methods like bumping or wedging are too refined for the common criminal – and maybe somewhat too blunt for the skilled criminal. However the fact of the matter is that these methods are incredibly common. All it takes is someone to simply input bump keys into a search engine to find myriad ways of purchasing them. Wedges are even easier to find – and can be made with simple household objects.
Security Matters to Everyone
People need to care about and understand security infrastructure in order to get the most out of systems that could protect their homes, businesses, or vehicles. It’s called strategy – you can prevent crime from happening before it does with special planning and preparation. It’s essential to understand how criminals think, and look at your property through the eyes of a criminal in order to spot any potential weak spots. Don’t allow yourself to adopt a false sense of security through the statistics that say that crime is going down. You need to build up your own walls of security, and improve it to a testable level. Building security infrastructure isn’t about sowing seeds of fear, it’s about understanding the value of prevention, and protection.
